How we choose
We buy in small runs from workshops that weave by hand, and we buy the same pieces again rather than replacing the range each season. The weave shifts a little between makers, and between one batch and the next. That variation is the reason we buy this way — it is the part a machine cannot copy.

Made to live with
Jute lightens where the sun reaches it. Seagrass dries from faint green to warm straw. Cotton softens in the wash and keeps the creases it earns. Nothing here is trying to stay new, and none of it asks to be treated carefully.

Smooth and faintly green when new, drying to warm straw. Hand-coiled, so no two baskets hold quite the same shape.
Split, steamed and bent into ribs that keep their curve. Light in the hand and harder than it looks.

A by-product of the harvest, twisted into rope with a deep matte lustre. It darkens a shade as it settles.

We order from the same workshops season after season, in quantities they can weave without adding a machine.
